What is a Poultice? A homemade poultice is made by mashing herbs, plant material or another substance with warm water or natural oils to make a paste. The paste can be applied directly to the skin and covered with a piece of clean cloth. The cloth can then be covered with plastic wrap to hold in the moisture. The poultice can be changed every 3 to 4 hours or whenever it dries out.

What is a Compress? A compress is used the same as a poultice but usually warm liquids are applied to the cloth instead of raw substances. Herbal infusions and teas are great for compresses.

What is an Oil Infusion? An oil infusion contains all the healing and healthy benefits of the herb used. They also make wonderful  bath oils, massage oils, herbal rubs or a simple moisturizer. To make an oil infusion, place dried herbs in glass jar, packing and crushing the plant. Add oil to cover the plant matter. simmer in a double boiler for 3 hours. Drain and press through cloth. You can add a few drops of Vitamin E.

What is an Herbal Tea? An herbal tea can be a therapy tea for many symptoms, from anxiety to digestion problems to fighting cancer. When you learn what to use there's a remedy tea for almost any ailment! Use hot but not boiling water for most teas. The boiling water can also destroy the quality and benefits of the tea. Never use the microwave to heat your water or warm your tea! A microwave rearranges the molecules in food and water which can destroy any beneficial properties of whatever your cooking or warming. Teas make great compresses, washes and drinks! Steep 10-15 minutes (exception is delicate flower teas such as chamomile.
